5 best anime to watch on Prime Video
By Diana Nosa
A little-known fact about Prime Video is that the streaming service is home to a handful of anime titles you may have heard of before. Some belong to genres that you hold dear to you, while others may be a little different from what you're used to. Either way, every Amazon Prime Video anime title is worth the stream!
Although there may not be much to choose from, Prime Video's anime show selection features titles that would be a bummer if you missed out on. What's more, these anime shows tend to be on most anime fans' lists of which anime shows they believe are the greatest of all time.
Without further ado, here are five anime shows that you should be streaming on Prime Video.
Dororo
Dororo is one of those anime shows that when you watch you begin to question humanity and how cruel it can be to those least deserving.
Our protagonist, Hyakkimaru, had his body sacrificed when he was a small baby. His limbs were all offered in exchange for his father to have his life prolonged. So, Hyakkimaru lives his life at a huge disadvantage. That is until he decides to embark on a journey to take back what is rightfully his one-by-one.
No matter how long it takes and no matter what he goes through on the way there, Hyakkimaru has set his soul on his goal. But, the only way he can go as far as someone with no limbs (or even skin) is by having someone just as passionate as him by his side.
Hunter x Hunter
Hunter x Hunter has gone down in history as one of the best shounen anime titles of all time for a reason. And it's not because the protagonist, Gon, is a likable character whose journey of discovering himself (and his family) is quite the adventure. This anime is a lot deeper than that.
At its heart, Hunter x Hunter is an anime that answers why strength isn't always everything. No matter how much Gon and his compadre, Killua, learn about the craft of being stronger or how to become kids who can defend themselves, it seems that it's never enough since they can't protect the people they love. Their inability to possess the necessary skills to thrive throws them into a state of constantly searching for that attribute that makes them want to get up and try again. However, so long as they never give up, we trust that they will be fine.
Sure, the anime is often a joyous display of the fun that can come with traveling around the world. But we must never forget that the endless pursuit of strength is what made Gon embark on his journey in the first place.
Toradora
If you don't swoon whenever you watch Toradora, we have a feeling that you may need to rewatch the anime to understand just why romance lovers are always drawn to this anime.
Taiga and Ryuji need each other's help to confess to their respective crushes. Unfortunately, things don't always go as planned, prompting them to come up with new creative ways to make sure their feelings are heard. But, as they are helping one another, Taiga and Ryuji grow closer. So close that it's almost as if these two would make a far better couple than the person they truly want to be with.
The will-they-won't-they dynamic is palpable in this anime, which is why we say again that if you don't swoon whenever you watch Toradora, you may need to give the anime another watch.
Vinland Saga
As you might have heard, Vinland Saga is a great anime to watch if you're toiling with whether to forgive someone who has wronged you. The critically acclaimed anime will teach you why they say revenge isn't something you should seek after since revenge really only hurts yourself in the end.
Thorfinn's father died right before his very own eyes. The person who took his father's life is someone who Thorfinn is forced to follow all around the world, an agitation that compels him to plan out the death of his father's assailant at every waking moment in hopes that one day he will be able to exact his revenge. However, the longer Thorfinn waits, the longer he realizes that maybe avenging his father will be more difficult than he thought.
Whether violence and murder is the answer or whether it's better to turn the other cheek are two opposite sides of the spectrum that Thorfinn goes back and forth with. What he chooses, though, is ultimately up to him.
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku
Whoever said that nerds are more likely to struggle with love must not have known that nerds are some of the most romantic beings in the dating scene. Don't believe it? Then perhaps streaming Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku will change your perspective.
Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku follows the lives of two childhood friends who reunite after some time apart. The guy, Hirotaka, finds himself still smitten with Narumi, his ditzy childhood friend who is now his BL-obsessed co-worker who could definitely learn a thing or two about being more professional. Nevertheless, this reunion changes the path of Hirotaka and Narumi, making life so much brighter and filled with romance.
The best part of anime like Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku is that there are several side couples with romance tropes you know and love. This gives you multiple perspectives of love that may not often be represented in the romance anime titles you're familiar with.
