We have a new anime adaptation that’s on the way, and we’re more than happy to say that this one is a long-overdue horror anime! Yes, you read that right! We’re receiving a new title that will fall under the underrated and super underappreciated horror genre, and that anime is none other than the upcoming adaption of Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai.

Written by Taro Yuri, this manga has been in the making since 2022, leaving fans wondering when their favorite manga will be brought to life. Fortunately, die-hard manga fans finally got their greatest wish answered, meaning all that’s left to look forward to is the anime adaptation itself.

We’re bound to learn more about the specifics of the anime, including (but not limited to) the cast, trailer, production staff, and, of course, the release date. But for now, let us tell you what to expect from this anime series.

Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai reminds us that children can also be pretty scary in horror anime

Often times in horror anime, we tend to see the characters either in high school or well into their adult years. But Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai wants to challenge this norm.

Kaya is a young girl who everyone is weary of because she is exceptionally creepy to approach. However, upon learning more about her, her teachers come to learn that she isn’t inherently creepy. Rather, she is being plagued by supernatural phenomena that leave her with very little opportunity to be a normal child.

What does Kaya’s ability mean for the world she lives in? Can she use it for good? We’ll find out when this anime adaptation finally arrives.

As per Crunchyroll, here is the official tagline for Taro Yuri’s Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai:

"This secret adults don’t know yet…Set in a kindergarten, the strongest little girl is matchless, a horror action with a new sense now opens its gate!"
