While an October 2024 release date for the next entry in the Dragon Ball franchise, Dragon Ball DAIMA has been known months now, we finally have confirmation of when in October the new series will debut in Japan. Quoting the announcement by the series's broadcaster Fuji TV via Japanese news media, Crunchy confirms that Dragon Ball DAIMA will air on Japanese TV on Fuji TV on Friday, October 11. Additionally, the premiere episode will feature a special runtime of 40 minutes. While this Friday timeslot will be the series's default airtime going forward, before the episode airs on TV, a special showing of the first episode will occur on October 6 at the Daimatsuri fan event. This fall 2024 debut date corresponds to the franchise's 40th anniversary and the launch of the original Dragon Ball manga.

Dragon Ball DAIMA is the first new entry in the franchise to debut since creator Akira Toriyama passed away in March 2024. However, Toriyama was involved in DAIMA's production phase and contributed to the series's story and character designs. As was the case for previous entries in the franchise, DAIMA is produced by iconic anime studio Toei Animation. Directors Aya Komaki, who has previously directed episodes of One Piece and been a unit and assistant director for several of the One Piece movies, and Yoshitaka Yashima, who has been animation director for several Dragon Ball and Digimon movies, collaborate to direct the series. The screenplay for the series is written by Yuko Kakihara (Buddy Daddies, the 2022 remake of Urusei Yatsura).

An international release date has not yet been confirmed as of this writing and it is also currently unknown where Dragon Ball DAIMA will stream for audiences outside of Japan. However, Crunchyroll seems like a safe bet. Every Dragon Ball anime series — from the original Dragon Ball to 2015's Dragon Ball Super — along with the franchise's standalone anime movies is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll.
