Shojo fans seem to be eating well this year, as more and more anime titles belonging to the amazing genre are being released or confirmed to be on the way! One of the most recent shojo announcements belongs to none other than Hana-Kimi (also known as Hana-Kimi: For You in Full Blossom)!

As popular as Hana-Kimi is, we sadly never got to see an anime release of this title. We have gotten several television adaptations that we believe are definitely worth the watch, but if you're someone who preferred to see an animated title that adapts some of your favorite big and small moments from the manga, you may have felt a little underwhelmed. Fortunately, that all comes to an end today!

Here's everything we know so far about the upcoming Hana-Kimi anime title!

Hana-Kimi will follow the manga's story very closely

If you are worried that the anime is very different from the source material, you can throw your worries away because, according to Crunchyroll, you can trust that the main story will stay the same.

Hana-Kimi follows the life of Mizuki Ashiya, a young girl who enrolls in an all-boy school to get closer to Izumi Sano, an uber-talented athlete whom she admires. There, she encounters all sorts of struggles including (but certainly not limited to) potentially being outed as a girl. Even so, with Izumi and her new friend Shuichi Nakatsu by her side, she throws away her worries and dives into a life full of love and laughter.

Check out the full synopsis below!

"Japanese-American track-and-field star Mizuki has gotten herself to transfer to a high school in Japan...but not just any school! To be close to her idol, high jumper Izumi Sano, she's going to an all-guys' high school...and disguising herself as a boy! But as fate would have it, they're more than classmates...they're roommates! Now, Mizuki must keep her secret in the classroom, the locker room, and her own bedroom. And her classmates--and the school nurse--must cope with a new transfer student who may make them question their own orientation."

Hisaya Nakajo, the talented author behind the title, passed away in before the anime adaption could be completed. To honor Nakajo's memory and legacy, the production team is picking up from where Nakajo left off and working relentlessly to bring forth a masterpiece that fans can thoroughly enjoy.

In a heartfelt message, the production team wrote:

"This is a project that's been discussed for a while with Hisaya Nakajo-sensei as we moved things forward. Nakajo-sensei had been watching over the rough drafts of the characters and the scenario, and she was looking forward to seeing the world of "Hana-Kimi" presented in a different way than the manga. It's very unfortunate that we weren't able to see the completed product along with Sensei, but because of the passionate support of the readers, 'Hana-Kimi' is coming back again in the form of an anime right around the 20th anniversary of when the manga ended, and we are truly grateful for that fact."

When the anime is finally completed, fans all over the world can turn to Crunchyroll to stream every episode!

We're bound to receive more information about Hana-Kimi (such as the trailer, voice actors, and production studio) in the near future. Until then, stay tuned with Anime Away for more information!
