As reported by Crunchyroll, the trailer for the anime adaptation Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest has been officially released. While the July 7 release date was previously announced, the first trailer now debuts the series' opening theme.
As revealed in the trailer, the opening theme of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest is "Story" by the Japanese group Da-iCE. It has also been announced that the ending theme is "Tomo yo, Koko de Sayonara da" by idol group Boku ga Mitakatta Aozora.
The trailer features the return of the main cast of the original Fairy Tail, as well as many of the minor members of the Fairy Tail guild. In addition to providing the audience's first chance to hear the opening theme, the trailer for 100 Years Quest shows that the sequel series will capture both the fantastic art direction and the familiar blend of epic fantasy action and humor. Based on the trailer, 100 Years Quest will no doubt feature a memorable soundtrack, since the ambient music and the opening theme featured in the trailer are phenomenal.
100 Years Quest follows the events of the original Fairy Tail series
The original Fairy Tail manga by Hiro Mashima ran from 2006 to 2017 and received an anime adaptation beginning in 2009, consisting of 328 episodes, nine standalone OVA episodes, and two full-length movies. With Atsuo Ueda taking over from Mashima as the primary artist, the 100 Years Quest manga began its run in 2018 and is currently ongoing.
Mashima is still involved with 100 Years Quest, working as the manga's writer and storyboarding its visuals. The English version of the manga is published by Kodansha US. At the time of this writing, an English release of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest has not yet been announced.
Fans who want to catch up before the July premiere of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest can watch the original Fairy Tail and the Dragon Cry movie on Crunchyroll.
