It's official! After enduring six years of the captivating yet stressful manga that is Jujutsu Kaisen, we're sad to say that the manga is coming to an end very soon.

Gege Akutami, author of the smash hit manga, shared a statement that confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen will, in fact, conclude in the next five chapters. Though the mangaka may have a few doubts regarding whether the ending will make dedicated readers happy, Gege is more than grateful to have the opportunity to conclude the manga in a way that will feel authentic to the story.

Jujutsu Kaisen fans always knew this day would come, as the manga can't go on forever. Even so, they are gutted to learn that they'll have to say goodbye to some of their favorite characters. But, above being sad to see the manga go, fans are worried — worried that Gege Akutami may have taken the story to a place where ending in five chapters may not be enough.

Why fans doubt Jujutsu Kaisen ending will tie up all loose ends

As time has shown with titles like Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia, ending an immensely popular manga is never easy since everyone's expectations of how the story should end vastly differ from each other. However, with Jujutsu Kaisen this fact may be far more plain to see. But not because fans have different expectations, but rather because fans agree on the front that there is too much ground to cover and mysteries left to be explained.

From wondering if Yuta Okkotsu still exists within Gojo Satoru's body or if neither of them lived and is merely an empty shell of their former selves to wondering if Megumi Fushiguro can push through to expunge Sukuna from his body, there is a lot on Gege's plate when it comes to answering fans' burning questions. What's more, Gege must also end the epic battle between Yuji Itadori and Sukuna, one that has been going on for quite some time, but still must conclude in a way that doesn't feel like time wasted.

Fans worry that five chapters are too few to give this manga the ending it deserves. Yet all hope is not lost, as they are putting trust in Gege Akutami to deliver. Whether it's through ensuring those final chapters are some of his best-written work or writing longer chapters for the sake of missing out on any details, we're sure Gege will find a way. How, though, remains to be seen.
