Given the Movie: To the Sea, the sequel to the very first Given film, has been announced to be on the way later this year, leaving fans excited about the upcoming film that will also serve as the very last installment from the anime series.

As reported by Crunchyroll, Given the Movie: To the Sea will officially be released in Japanese theaters on Friday, Sept. 20. Along with the official release date, a brand-new trailer has been released to celebrate this exciting news. See it below!

Ahead of the exciting news, we also received a new visual featuring all of our favorite characters!

The 2024 film will continue from where the first installment, Given Hiiragi mix Movie, left off, so there will be tons of story to cover. If you need a quick update on where the story of Given is right now or just want to know more about what to expect from the film, you've come to the right place!

Given the Movie: To the Sea to dive further into Uenoyama and Mafuyu's relationship

Between the first part of the two-part film series (released in January 2024) covering more about the relationship between Hiiragi Kashima and Shizusumi Yagi and the previous 2020 installment focusing on the relationship between Akihiko Kaji and Haruki Nakayama, we're expecting To the Sea to delve into the relationship between Uenoyama and Mafuyu a bit more than we've previously seen.

As shown in the trailer, Uenoyama and Mafuyu are both searching for a feeling they can't quite name just yet. They each seek the answers they desperately yearn for in music, a solution that not only polishes their artistic talent even further but also brings out the better versions of themselves so that they can continue to be there for each other. What's more, with how much they mean to each other becoming more powerful by the minute, it's clear that Uenoyama and Mafuyu may finally share their deepest feelings for each other.

The movie also has a few calls to other characters in the anime like Akihiko and Haruki, which lets us know that these characters will have their moments, too. Perhaps we'll even see some moments that are crucial to understanding these characters' personalities and genuine feelings.

Lastly, since Given has always been an anime that focused on the beauty of music and how it brings us closer, you can definitely expect the 2024 installment to bring us stunning new songs and even more important revelations on the unique art that is the sound of music.

By and large, Given the Movie: To the Sea will be a film packed with plenty of great stories that will all come together for a beautiful conclusion. Catch the release in Japanese theaters on Friday, Sept. 20. Or, if you can't make it to one of the select theaters, stay tuned with Anime Away to learn when the 2024 film will be released at a theater near you!
