Hayao Miyazaki's son describes the new Studio Ghibli film his dad is working on

Repeatedly releasing great films is no easy feat for most production studios. But for Studio Ghibli, this film company makes it look very easy!

As reported by Comic Book, the beloved animation studio is nowhere near finished yet, and Hayao Miyazaki is busy writing. As evidenced by a new interview, the future film (or films) of Studio Ghibli is sure to blow everyone away in the same way that the studio's most recent film, The Boy and the Heron, did, while still being able to maintain a completely unique personality of its own.

An upcoming Studio Ghibli film will be the perfect dose of nostalgia

The media outlet reports that Goro Miyazaki, the son of the Academy Award-winning film director Hayao Miyazaki, recently shared a bit of what his father and others at the famous production studio are currently working on. While he can't tease too much, Goro hints that fans can expect a blast from the past because Studio Ghibli is aiming to return to its roots.

"I'd tell [Hayao Miyazaki], 'Make some for future projects. Only making them for your past stuff is boring.' He's making some now though," Goro told the Japanese publication Oricon. "I don't know if it'll actually be for his next film, but it's looking like an action-adventure-type movie, nostalgic and reminiscent of the old days."

Some of Hayao's most famous action-adventure films include Tales from Earthsea, Princess Mononoke, and Porco Rosso, so it's possible that we will receive something that is similar to these. It's also entirely likely that the film will be a blend of all these films while still being its own standalone project.

Nonetheless, heading back into Hayao Miyazaki's mind when he was in his prime sounds very promising. Even if we have to wait almost a decade for the next film like we did with plenty of films in the past, we already know it will be well worth the wait.
