Kaiju No. 8 is a new series set to premiere this weekend, serving as an adaptation known as "Monster #8" written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. The manga has been serialized on Shonen Jump since July 2020 with a collection of twelve volumes so far. The anime is highly anticipated for its quality and protagonist.

It will headline as one of the top anime series this spring. The anime will follow Kafka Hibino, a man who obtains the power to turn into a Kaiju and becomes part of an organization to fight other creatures. It is set in a fictional version of Japan where monsters roam the region and a military unit is designated to resist and exterminate the threats.

Kaiju No. 8 episode 1 is titled "The Man Who Became a Kaiju" and is scheduled to be released on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11:00 pm Japanese Standard Time (JST) and will be simulcast on Crunchyroll in the United States. The episode will also be available in the U.S. on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

What to know about Kaiju No. 8

This series is produced by Production I.C. and Studio Khara. It will unveil spectacular visuals for an anime. It is directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya. The scripts are by Ichiro Okouchi with character designs are by Tetsuya Nishio. Mahiro Maeda is designing the Kaiju, Shinji Kimura serves as art director, and Yuta Bando is composing the music. The opening theme song, "Abyss," is performed by Yungblud, and the ending song "Nobody" is released by OneRepublic.

The anime will begin with providing insight into the Kaiju universe and the relationship between Kafka and his childhood friend, Mina. The audience will also learn about the defense force and why Kafka finds it important to him. Kafka is working as a worker in a decontamination crew and an unprecedented event occurs that allows him to pursue his long-awaited dream of joining the defense corps to fight monsters.
