Kaiju No. 8 episode 10 release date and time (and an episode 9 recap)

Kaiju No. 8 had its series premiere in April and already, viewers are hooked. Its tenth episode was released this past weekend, so we're here to break down how to watch and what happened last so you don't forget a thing.

The series introduced the Kaiju world where Kafka Hibino obtains the power to turn into a Kaiju and becomes part of the defense corps to fight other creatures. The previous episode covered the Kaiju invasion on the Defense Force base and Hoshino faces against the intelligent DaiKaiju. This next episode will cover the aftermath of the first mission of the recruits and Kafka's encounter with Hoshino.

Kaiju No. 8 episode 10 is titled "Exposure" It will be released on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11:00 pm Japanese Standard Time (JST) and is available on Crunchyroll in the United States.

Episode 9 recap

In the previous episode, Kafka reiterates his determination to Hoshino before looking out on the balcony. As he walks away, Kafka notices several meteors headed towards the base which is revealed to be a Kaiju attack. Hoshino communicates with the operation base as he is alerted that several Honju class Kaiju have ambushed the base and Hoshino orders the defense corps to keep the creatures in the training area.

During the raid, Kafka relays to Hoshino that the creatures are Wyvern-types and they usually travel alone, and that they unusually arrived in a group on the base. Hoshino realizes there is a leader who exhibits enough intelligence to command the other kaiju. The leader is a Daikaiju and it is targeting Vice Captain Hoshino and it displays the ability to speak. While Hoshino clashes with the DaiKaiju, the defense corps deals with the other Wyvern Kaiju. They have trouble fending off the creatures before Kafka informs them that their back is a weak point and their front is more exposed in flight.

While the recruits encounter obstacles in approaching the back of the monsters, Kikoru unveils her battle axe given to her by the captains. She is able to easily defeat several Wyvern Kaijus with the axe and she recruits Reno to use his freeze rounds to take down the targets. During Hoshino's bout with the DaiKaiju, he notices that the creature is showing enjoyment during the fight and Kafka uses his powers to save another corps member. Other higher-ranking officers arrive on the scene to assist the operation and Hoshino encounters difficulties sin his fight. Hoshino is able to cut into the Kaiju's core but the creature enters another transformation and grows into a giant Kaiju with a fortitude level of 9.0 at the end of the episode.
