Episode 10 recap
In the previous episode, the defense corps continues their resistance against the Kaiju raid on their base. The sentient Kaiju turns into a giant DaiKaiju and gives the vice captain trouble in their fight. Hoshino releases his limiters and the suit eventually runs out of energy during the clash.
In a flashback, it is revealed that Hoshino was encouraged several times to give up becoming a defense force member since guns were becoming more common as swordsmanship became a skill of the past.
Hoshino remains determined to slash his way through and is informed that the defense corps is taking care of the other Honju. During another flashback, Mina recruits Hoshino to her squad since his skill would pair up with her since she is a ranged attacker, and Hoshino's close combat would be useful. Hoshino unleashes a barrage of attacks but the creature catches Hoshino in a compromising position and Kafka is forced to charge in to save the vice captain.
As Kafka changes into his form, Captain Ashiro enters and uses her range attacks to deal heavy blows to the DaiKaiju. Hoshino provides cover for Mina as she aims for the core and Shinomiya is able to land a blow to the limbs with Hoshino. The defense corps all shift their focus on the monster to hinder its movements and Mina Ashiro unleashes her last bullet to destroy the core. After the battle, the corps regroup, and the rest of the corps plan to eliminate the rest of the Yoju.
While discussing the strategy, the officers notice a mass forming in the sky and it is revealed to be the Kaijus creating a bomb in the sky. The corps is left in a vulnerable position and Kafka rushes out and is forced to transform in front of everybody. Hoshino is shocked even with his suspicions and Reno tries to discourage Kafka, but Kafka shoots up into the sky in order to drive the bomb away. Kafka is able to push the mass outwards and fall back down while the corps brace for impact. He is able to protect the corps from the blast but is then taken into custody by Captain Ashiro.
We're on the edge of our seats to find out what happens next in Kaiju No. 8 episode 11.
