Kaiju No. 8 had its series premiere last month and already, viewers are hooked. Its seventh episode was released this past weekend, so we're here to break down how to watch and what happened last so you don't forget a thing.

The series introduced the Kaiju world where Kafka Hibino obtains the power to turn into a Kaiju and becomes part of the defense corps to fight other creatures. The previous episode covered the recruits on their first mission. This next episode will continue the mission and their encounter with the humanoid Kaiju that appeared earlier in the series.

Episode 6 recap

In the previous episode, the new recruits wake up to the Kaiju alarm as they are set to go on their first mission. Mina gets information on the Kaiju appearing in Sagamihara and it is revealed there are Honju and Yoju as well.

The defense corps decided to deal with the Kaiju in sector Bravo to minimize damage and the team set their formations on site. Hoshino prepares the recruits for their first mission and Kafka observes the Kaiju with Honju and Yoju offspring heading towards them. Kafka and Reno reassure each other the recruits split into teams to confront the Yoju.

Kikoru takes down several creatures and Reno performs well as he takes advantage of freeze rounds. Reno reveals he wants to become stronger in order for Kafka not to have to transform at the sight of danger. The veteran troops observe the new recruits and are taken aback by their performance as they see the combat capabilities higher for the rookies. Kafka is discouraged by his contributions and enters a level of introspection and he wonders how he can help the team. He then uses his cleanup job experience and heads over the corpse of one of the Yoju.

Kafka examines the corpse and is able to locate the core and fills in Hoshino about the anatomy of the creature. He also informs the vice captain about the reproductive organs. Hoshino is encouraged by Kafka's actions and the defense corps inform the rest of the team about Kafka's findings. Kafka sets out to deal with the corpse's organs and Mina sets herself on the roof of a building across the Kaiju and prepares her gun. She fires her large weapon to take down the Kaiju with a few big shots. Kafka is in awe of Mina displaying her power and then Hoshino shows his skills.

The vice-captain has more short-range attributes and he reveals he comes from a family that wields a sword to fight Kaius. As the teams takes down the Honju, the Yoju are spawned and head over to the defense corps in hordes. The team prepares for the next wave as Reno and Iharu stumble upon a cleanup crew member. They are suspicious and it is revealed that the crew member is the Kaiju that attacked Kikoru.
