Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 episode 23 release date, time, and what you missed last

In Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 episode 22, Rudy's squad encounters a Hydra keeping Zenith crystallized and the group moves to attack. Unfortunately, they lose Paul in the battle and find that Zenith has lost her memories and cannot speak anymore. The new episode will Rudy's grief as he tries to grapple with reality and Roxy attempts to comfort him during this time.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation season 2 episode 23 is titled “Let's Go Home” and is scheduled to be released on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 12:00 in Japan. It will be released in the U.S. on June 23, 2024, as it will be simulcast on Crunchyroll.

Season 2 episode 22 recap

In the previous episode, Rudy and the rest of the party arrive at the sixth stratum of the labyrinth and they find Zenith crystallized behind a Hydra monster. Paul rushes in without a plan and is able to cut off multiple Hydra heads. The others panic as they'd never come across a creature like that, and they attempt to provide support as Paul and Elinalise attack.

Rudy and Roxy find that their Mana Attacks are useless and the group decides to retreat in order to come up with a new plan of attack. When they escape, they try to regroup, but Paul is angered that Rudy is not showing any reaction to the sight of his mother trapped. They discuss the Hydra and learn that the scales are resistant to mana, and Rudy recalls a story of Hercules where he cut off the heads and then burned them in order to keep them from regenerating.

Rudy infuriates Paul when he questions whether Zenith is alive in the crystal, but the two stop arguing in order to carry out their plan. Before heading back into the sixth stratum, Paul thanks everyone for tagging along and asks Rudy to protect his mother. The group advances to face the monster and Rudy finds success in cauterizing the severed heads.

They manage to get all of the heads and are left with one more before havoc ensues. The last head aims for Rudeus while he is distracted and Paul saves him in time, but Rudy severs his left hand in the crossfire. Roxy uses her fire attack on the last head and Rudy is able to close the wound on his left arm with relief. He gets up in order to thank his father but can't find him until he finds the rest of his group huddled to the side.

He finds Paul's body severed in two and walks up towards him in shock and confusion. Rudy is speechless as Paul takes his last breath and the episode cuts to Zenith freed from the crystallization. At the end of the episode, the group travels back to camp and they inform the rest of the people about Paul's death. Lillia tries to to take care of Rudeus and days later Zenith wakes up with signs of amnesia and her ability to speak has gone.
