Season 2 episode 23 recap

In the previous episode, Rudeus is grieving the loss of his father and he questions why his father protected him. He reflects on his past life and voices his regrets about not connecting with his parents. Rudy is depressed about the state of his mother as well and has not left his room for a while.

Roxy enters the room attempting to comfort Rudy and she tries to connect with him through conversation. Roxy and Rudy discuss the loss of his parents and how he should move forward. The conversation ends with the two characters sharing an intimate night together.

The next morning, Rudy is baffled that he spent the night with Roxy. During the day, Rudy visits Lilia, who is tending to Zenith. Zenith has lost her memories and Elinalise believes that there is no real chance for rehabilitation. Lilia swears to care for Zenith and encourages Rudy to focus on himself. Rudy and the rest of the party decide to head back to Renoa and use the teleportation circles.

During their trek back home, Rudy and Roxy talk about their relationship and Rudy's married life. Roxy reveals she knew from Elinalise about Rudy's marriage but has feelings for Rudy as well and wants to help Rudy feel better after their mission in the labyrinth. Rudy feels conflicted from this conversation and Elinalise talks to him days later about this issue.

Elinalise informs Rudy that Roxy is in love with him and that he should consider marrying her as well. He can have two wives like Paul did and Roxy would be best served as a companion of Rudy instead of living with heartbreak. Rudy mulls over this possibility and he decides to talk to Roxy about it. He professes his feelings to Roxy and admits he loves Sylphy as well and that he will ask for Sylphy's approval for the arrangement.
