What happened in One Piece  episode 1082?

In the previous episode, One Piece begins with the continuation of the Wano festival where citizens are celebrating their freedom. Nami, Chopper, and Otaku are enjoying themselves as they take part in the festival. Nami enters in the target practice game as Usopp shows off his marksman skills.

The episode then cuts to the fight between Admiral Ryogoku and the Akazaya Nine as they try to drive the admiral away from Wano. The samurai try to cut him down but the admiral's devil fruit gave him the ability to regenerate. The ninja samurai, Raizo, uses fire jutsu to damage Ryogoku's wood body which proves to be futile as the Admiral admits that he wouldn't be in his position with such an obvious weakness. Momonosuke stresses to Yamato to not interfere because he wishes Yamato to be free from Wano and wants the Akazaya Nine to defend themselves instead of trying to rely on the Straw Hats.

While the samurai fight off the admiral, the show shifts to Robin and Kozuki Sukiyaki as they look for the Poneglyph. Law walks in to find Robin and Kozuki on a secret staircase. Law also wants to know the secrets of Wano and they find out that Wano was originally submerged in water and the new civilization was built where they stand. The ancient city was drowned because of the walls of Wano and Kozuki reveals that Pluto is located below and can only be accessed if Wano's border was open which was once requested by Oden himself.

The episode cuts back to the fight and Momonosuke is able to use his fire breath after some amount of difficulty and can knock Ryogoku back. The admiral is able to stand back up after the attack and then Shanks enters the scene. While on the Coast of Wano, Shank slightly unsheathes his sword to use his Haki on the admiral.

From far away, the Haki reaches the admiral which freezes Ryogoku in place as he realizes the Red-Haired pirates are nearby. Shanks criticizes the admiral's actions as Wano has just been freed from Kaido and that the new-era pirates' actions should have been given more time before they were attacked. The episode ends as Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbei witness the fight and Luffy is smiling as he recognizes Shank's Haki.
