Oshi No Ko season 2 episode 1 recap

The first episode of the second season starts the Tokyo Blade play for Aqua, Kana, Akane, and the rest of the cast. The production is in the rehearsal stage as the actors begin to understand their characters and get a feel of the script. There is animosity and competition between Kana and Akane, and Himekawa is introduced as the protagonist of the play.

Kana and Himekawa display a budding chemistry with their characters during rehearsals and it allows Kana to showcase her acting skills. Akane witnesses Kana shining in her role and feels threatened about being upstaged and she starts to focus on her character analysis even more.

Akane is conflicted by the difference between her characters' manga portrayal and the script for the play. Aqua notices and approaches the director and the scriptwriter about her concerns. The scriptwriter reveals that the play is a condensed version of the manga, and it would be difficult to showcase all the character's inner conflicts. He explains that her character was one of the sacrifices made in order to make the play flow more smoothly. His goal was to make the main conflict in the story easy to understand.

Later in the episode, the creator of the "Tokyo Blade" manga, Abiko Samejima, arrives at the production and witnesses the cast members' performances. She is thrilled about her manga adaptation but soon reveals that she would like to make major changes to the script,

How will that go over with the other characters? We'll find out in Oshi No Ko season 2 episode 2.
