As reported by Crunchyroll, the ongoing second season of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World will be going on hiatus. As of this writing, four episodes of the season have aired. The fifth was scheduled to air in Japan on August 7. However, new episodes are now delayed until further notice.

Crunchyroll has the statements originally posted in Japanese by the anime's production team and Kei Sazane, the author of the original light novel series. Be aware that the original Japanese title of the series is Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjō, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen, and that these statements refer to the series by its common Japanese abbreviation KimiSen.

In addition to a news post of the official Our Last Crusade or the Ries of a New World website, the anime's production committee has shared a statement via X (formerly Twitter):

Crunchyroll has provided an English translation for the benefit of the non-Japanese audience. The translated statement reads as follows:

"Thank you very much for your continued support for the TV anime Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World Season 2. We have decided to postpone the broadcast and streaming of Episode 5 and onward in order to maintain the quality of the main story. We apologize for the inconvenience and concern this may cause our viewers who have been looking forward to the work and everyone involved.

The KimiSen 2 Production Committee will continue to work together with the original novel's author, Kei Sazane, the original novel's editorial department, and the production studio. Including the episodes that have already aired, the entire staff will make every effort to meet the expectations of those who have been looking forward to the work. We sincerely appreciate your understanding."

Additionally, original author Kei Sazane's contribution to the statement reads as follows:

"I am truly sorry that some of you may feel uneasy. That is why, as the original author, I think the most important thing is to reassure everyone by honestly informing them of the positive future of 'KimiSen Season 2.' First of all, the postponement of Season 2 is due to a positive reason: 'We want to deliver 'Kimi Sen' as a work that can be enjoyed even more.

Of course, Sazane also loves the current "KimiSen" Season 2. The amazing OP and ED movies and the battle against Vichyssoise in the third episode. All of these visuals were made beyond Sazane's image. I think there is no end to the list of favorite scenes in other episodes as well.

On the other hand, however, some people voiced their concerns that the quality of the visuals in some parts of the animation was questionable. The production committee and the production studio took these concerns seriously, and that is how this decision came to be."

Following the second season going on hiatus, the revised schedule for Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World on TV in Japan will consist of re-airing the anime's first season on Wednesdays from August 7 to September 2025. While the return date for Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World is currently unknown, Crunchyroll has clarified the production committee's plan to begin re-airing the second season from the first episode when the series returns.

For international viewers, the series remains available for streaming via Crunchyroll, with the first season available in its entirety and the four episodes of the second season so far also available. As of this writing, the first two episodes of the second season have received an English dub.

While news of this hiatus is disappointing to fans of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World, this sort of production delay is not especially uncommon or even concerning for anime series, even in the middle of airing their latest seasons. For example, in the fall of 2023, the anime adaptation of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead went on a lengthy hiatus before airing its final episodes, but remained well-received by fans. The anime adaptation of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead can now be streamed in its entirety on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
