As reported via Crunchyroll, Warner Bros. Japan has announced the premiere date and streaming platforms for its DC anime adaptation Suicide Squad ISEKAI.
The series will debut with the release of the first three episodes on June 27 on Max and Hulu. After the three-episode premiere, episodes will be released weekly for a run of 10 episodes. In addition to streaming in the US on Max and Hulu, Warner Bros. Japan has also announced a broadcast TV release in Japan beginning on July 5. Streaming releases have also been announced for Korea, France, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
Additional streaming releases for the series outside these regions have not been formally announced, but Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that more information is forthcoming.
What we know about Suicide Squad ISEKAI so far
After an initial announcement in July 2023, several trailers and additional information has steadily been released. Warner Bros. Discovery outlines the series as follows:
"In the crime-ridden city of Gotham, Amanda Waller, the head of A.R.G.U.S., has assembled a group of notorious criminals for a mission: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface, and King Shark. These Super-Villains are sent into an otherworldly realm that’s connected to this world through a gate. The Japanese voice cast list has also been announced. Anna Nagase will voice Harley Quinn and Yuichiro Umehara will voice the Joker. Nagase has previously voiced supporting roles in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Jujutsu Kaisen, and the video game Unicorn Overlord. Umehara is likely best known as the title character in Goblin Slayer.
Suicide Squad ISEKAI is not DC's first collaboration with a Japanese production team. Previously, DC and a Japanese team including Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki released the full-length anime movie Batman Ninja in 2018. A sequel to Batman Ninja was announced in the spring of 2024.
