For months, Studio Ghibli fans who missed the release of The Boy and the Heron in theaters have been looking for a way to stream the Academy Award-winning film. Fortunately, the wait is finally over!

As reported by Variety, the 2023 film starring Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, and Christian Bale has found itself a streaming service where it will reside for years to come. That streaming service is none other than Max (formerly, HBO Max), the same site that houses a hearty Studio Ghibli collection for fans.

The Boy and the Heron will officially join Max on Friday, Sept. 6! Before you and your family sit down and enjoy your Friday movie night, allow us to tell you a little bit about what you can expect from the film as well as give you a little sneak peek of everything that's to come!

The Boy and the Heron tells a story of grief and starting anew

After losing his mother, Mahito Maki is visited by a mythical creature who tells him that his mother is still alive. Whether this is the truth doesn't matter to him, as he would do anything to see her again. And so, he sets off on a journey to find his mother. If only he knew the complex journey that awaited him as well as the various people he would meet that would shape his entire experience as a young boy.

See all this and more in the official trailer for The Boy and the Hero below.
