In the upcoming episode, Naofumi and his party continue their fight underground as they navigate around the reckless environment of betting. Eventually, they reach the final match.

What happened previously in The Rising of the Shield Hero?

The last we saw The Rising Shielf of Hero, the show picks up after the Spirit Tortoise arc and it continues the adventures of Naofumi and his party. The other three cardinal heroes are still missing and the Phoenix Guardian is another monster that will appear in three months. Naofumi is preparing for the battle with Kyo and has left his team with a curse that they are still dealing with. Other nations are surrounding Melromarc for unknown reasons and the Shield Hero is trying to mend the relationships between humans and demi-humans. The Queen is trying to oust the corruption in her palace and one of the vassal weapon heroes is revealed to be the former king, who wields the Staff weapon.

Naofumi is trying to help the demi-humans by buying their freedom from slavery and is actively locating people who were abducted from Raptalia's homeland. The slaves are now being sold at a premium because of the work the Shield Hero has done with demi-humans. The slaves were moved to Zeltoble because the merchants feared that slavery would be outlawed soon.

Naofumi and his party head to Zeltoble and they realize the slaves are now sold at auctions underground for a hefty price. Naofumi is shown an underground fighting arena where betting takes place. He examines the area and finds out how fights are fixed and the types of fights that are allowed. Naofumi decides to enter the underground fights as a way to earn money and he hides his identity in the matches. The Shield Hero team pretends to be weak at first to shift the audience's favor to ensure their bet winnings.
