Tower of God season 1 recap

In the first season, the series introduces two characters, Bam and Rachel, as Bam enters the tower to search for Rachel. There, Bam meets Headon, the guardian of the first floor, who indicates that he should head to the top of the tower and tests him. Bam takes on the challenge in order to find Rachel. Bam meets Yuri and Evan, and Yuri hands Bam the Black March weapon to help him during the test. Bam is swallowed by the eel and stabs it, and he then heads to the second floor.

When Bam reaches the second floor, the next test begins and he teams up with Rak and Khun in order to pass the exam. The exam eliminates half the contestants and Bam's group eventually passes as they remain standing during the end. The next test is proctored by Lero-Ro, seeing the contestants having to pass through a Shinsu barrier. Many participants experience great difficulty passing through while Bam's group is one of a few that are able to pass through.

The next test is given by Yu Han Sung where contestants have to pick the correct door within ten minutes to pass. Rak opens a door within the first five minutes and their group realizes that opening a door within the first five minutes allows the contestants to pass. A bonus game starts before the third test where the teams face each other in order to move on.

During the bonus game, Anak bets her Green April with Bam and his Black March, and begins to suspect that Rachel is also present at the game. Towards the end of the game, Bam gives up his throne to defend Rachel and falls into a coma.

While Bam recovers, his group discovers his connection to Rachel, and the next exam is the Position test where the contestants find out their positions. Bam is assigned as a wave controller and Anak is revealed to be the daughter of one of the princesses. The next test is a hide-and-seek with Ranker Quant, and team B enacts a ploy in order to trick Quant to pass the exam.

During the exam, Ho attempts to kill Rachel but is stopped by Bam and Quant. Androssi tags Quant, the team passes the exam, and Rachel is supposedly injured. The last exam is the submerged fish hunt. Bam and Rachel remain inside a Shinsu bubble while the rest of the contestants take on monsters. In the Shinsu bubble, Bam and Rachel have a conversation about Rachel's motives and she pushes him out of the bubble and betrays him.

Rachel tells the contestants that Bam died from fighting the bull and they move on to the third floor. However, Hwa Ryun finds Bam and offers to train him to get stronger and continue his tower climb in order to find out why Rachel betrayed him.
