Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- season 3 confirmed

Hot on the heels of the Japanese airing of the Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- season 2 finale, Crunchyroll has shared the confirmation of a third season of the fantasy anime series. The announcement (in Japanese) comes from the official Tsukimichi socials and website:

Although this announcement confirms that season 3 is in production, no specific details about a scheduled release date have been announced as of this writing. For reference, season 1 began airing in the summer of 2021and season 2 began airing in January 2024. Whether or not there will be a similar wait between season 2 and season 3 is currently unclear.

Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- adapts the original light novel series

An isekai series adapting a series of light novels by writer Kei Azumia and illustrator Mitsuaki Matsumoto published between 2013 and 2023, Tsukimichi tells the story of Makoto Misumi after he is summoned into a fantasy world. However, his adventures in this new world quickly take an unexpected direction, as explained in the Crunchyroll series synopsis:

"Makoto Misumi was just an average teenager who suddenly was summoned to another world as a "hero." But the goddess of this world called him ugly and took his hero status away from him, then sent him to the ends of the world. He meets dragons, spiders, orcs, dwarves, and many other non-human races in the wastelands. Makoto manages to show promise in the use of magic and fighting, which he wouldn't have been able to do in his former world. He has numerous encounters, but will he be able to survive this new world? A fantasy where a guy who gods and humanity had abandoned tries to reset his life in this new world is about to begin!"

Seasons 1 and 2 of Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- are streaming now on Crunchyroll, including the recently aired season 2 finale. However, the schedule for the release of the English dub of each new episode is several weeks behind the original Japanese release. As of this writing, the dubbed version of the last two episodes of season 2 has not yet been released. The entirety of season 1 and the early episodes of season 2 are also available dubbed in German, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
