What happened previously?

The previous chapter opens up with the newly aquired serfs getting scared and nervous to charge the battle. They didn't know this would happen to them after they became a serf.

Leon says that this is the only they can be punished for all their sins and they can't ignore this punishment. He was sending them as a meatshield in front of the demon army.

Now with God's blessing behind them, the serfs couldn't stop and they started to move on their own to lead the charge. They were even buffed by Leon's to perform well in the battle.
