What's next for Solo Leveling? Know more about the season 2!

Following the earlier announcement of Solo Leveling season two's release date, Crunchyroll has also announced that it has acquired the theatrical rights to the Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- movie. Season two of the anime will air in January 2025 and the ReAwakening movie is coming to theaters in Canada and the US on December 6, 2024. This release follows several days after its initial Japanese theatrical release on November 29.

Fans should be aware that the Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- movie will include footage from the first two episodes of season two. Thanks to the theatrical release of Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- , fans will get a special preview of what's in store of season two of the anime before it starts streaming on Crunchyroll. Even before an official release date was announced, Crunchyroll previously confirmed that it would serve as the streaming home of Solo Leveling season two.

The official Solo Leveling social media pages have posted a special key visual to hype fans up for Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- before its theatrical release:

"Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- features a catch-up recap of the first season coupled with an exclusive sneak peek of the first two episodes of the highly anticipated second season in one momentous theatrical fan experience.

Over a decade has passed since a pathway called a "gate" which connects this world and another dimension suddenly appeared, and people with superhuman powers called "hunters" have been awakened. Hunters use their superhuman powers to conquer dungeons inside the gates to make a living, and Sung Jinwoo, a hunter of the lowest rank, is considered the Weakest Hunter of All Mankind. One day, he encounters a double dungeon, a high-level dungeon hidden inside a low-level one. In front of a severely wounded Jinwoo, a mysterious quest window pops up. On the verge of death, Jinwoo decides to take on the quest, which makes him the only person who can level up."

Crunchyroll has also shared the trailer for Solo Leveling -ReAwakening-, posted to Youtube by Aniplex, the corporate owner of the anime's production studio A-1 Pictures, which we've posted just above at the start of this section.

The Solo Leveling series available to stream on Crunchyroll is one of a growing number of series being produced based on Korean source material. The original novels that are the basis for the Solo Leveling anime series are written by author Chugong and published by the Korean digital service KakaoPage. The original web novels were published between 2016 and 2021in 14 volumes. The English translation of the original novels is published by Yen Press.

The first season of Solo Leveling aired during the Winter 2024 season, about a year to the day that season 2 is scheduled to begin airing. Season one is available on Crunchyroll to viewers in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Oceania, Middle East and CIS regions. The series is available with voice tracks in languages including English, Japanese, Korean, both European and Latin American Spanish and French. Similarly, subtitles are provided in all the same languages, as well as Indonesian, Malay, Vietnamese, Russian, Arabic and Thai.

Crunchyroll sums up the first season like this:

"They say whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, but that’s not the case for the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo.
