Originally premiering on HIDIVE as part of the summer 2024 anime season — alongside other series including 2.5 Dimensional Seduction, Plus-Sized Elf and season two of Oshi no Ko — fantasy comedy series Dungeon People has debuted its English dub as of this week. This is the latest anime series to join HIDIVE's slate of dubs. The streaming platform's other dubs produced and streamed in 2024 include the aforementioned season two of Oshi no Ko, Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night and I Parry Everything.
To coincide with the English dub of Dungeon People premiering on the service, HIDIVE has also shared the cast list for the series. The English voice cast for Dungeon People includes:
• Donna Bella Litton as Clay
• Annie Wild as Belle
• Jay Hickman as Rangard
• Jad Saxton as young Clay in flashbacks and various monster characters
• Brittney Karbowski as the Light Spirit
Beginning this past Wednesday, December 4, new episodes of the English dub of Dungeon People go live on HIDIVE every Wednesday at 12:00 Eastern. Fans can look forward to a 12-episode run of the anime series.
Everything you need to know about Dungeon People on HIDIVE
The Dungeon People anime series currently streaming on HIDIVE adapts the original manga created by Sui Hutami (the name is also spelled "Futami" in some sources online), which debuted in 2020 an is currently ongoing. The English version of the manga is published by Seven Seas Entertainment, which currently has five volumes of the series available for purchase.
Seven Seas Entertainment provides the following summary of the series:
"An unexplored dungeon, filled with monsters and traps. An expert thief, searching for her lost father. When Clay delves into the dungeon deeper than any adventurer has ever gone, she is offered a job by the dungeon’s caretaker! Now, instead of exploring, Clay must learn how to interview new monsters, set traps and position slimes around the dungeon. Will this new career path bring her any closer to finding her father?"Seven Seas Entertainment
Although the dungeon setting will be familiar to any viewer who was every played Dungeons & Dragons, Dungeon People puts a new twist on the archetypal fantasy-genre dungeon. Although fantasy anime that follow the villains or the monsters rather than the heroes aren't uncommon — for example, Overlord and So I'm a Spider, So What? — Dungeon People goes in a fairly unique direction by focusing on the day-to-day operations of such a dungeon and the things that need to be done for the dungeon to continue functioning. In a way, Dungeon People is primarily a slice-of-life series.
Fans of other comedic anime series will enjoy Dungeon People, and HIDIVE recommends it for fans of other series including Helck, I'm Quitting Heroing (both also streaming on HIDIVE), Delicious in Dungeon (streaming on Netflix) and Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (streaming on HIDIVE, Crunchyroll or Hulu in various forms).
The Anime Away team also recommends Dungeon People for fans of the aforementioned Overlord, So I'm a Spider, So What? and KonoSuba (all streaming on Crunchyroll), as well as the vintage comedic anime series Slayers and Rune Soldier — unfortunately, neither Slayers nor Rune Soldier are currently available to stream, but both classic series aren't hard to find on DVD.
