Jujutsu Kaisen is approaching the end of its Shibuya incident arc as the next episode premieres this week. The next episode will set up the conclusion of the fight in Shibuya between the curses and sorcerers. In the previous episode, Yuji was able to overcome his grief, and lad critical blows to Mahito and Geto appeared. the next episode will likely reveal Mahito's fate and Geto's role as he faces Yuji.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 22 release date and time

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 22 is titled "Metamorphosis Part 2" and is scheduled to be released on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at 9:30 am Japanese Standard Time (JST) and will be simulcast on Crunchyroll in the United States. The episode will also be available in the U.S. on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 episode 21 recap

In the previous episode, the fight between Yuji and Mahito resumed with Todo assisting Yuji. Mahito used his curse technique to drive Yuji and Todo upwards to the street level of Shibuya to continue his attack. Todo switches Yuji with Mahito and Mahito severs his own head to avoid their attack.

As Mahito's head escapes, his body continues to attack and then he uses a curse technique called Polymorphic Soul isomer to create a very strong transfigured human. The creature Mahito created went after Todo and was able to separate Todo from Yuji. Mahito went after Yuji and Todo experienced difficulty in handling the transfigured human and its explosive offensive firepower is able to deal damage. Todo is able to defeat his attacker with his switching technique and he surmises that the transfigured human burned through multiple souls for great power.

He then turns around to find out there are two more soul isomers to take down. Yuji is able to evade Mahito's attacks and then rejoins Todo. Mahito figures out that Todo is difficult to take down so he realizes that he can use Domain expansion without a response from Sukuna. He uses a 0.2-second Domain expansion to avoid Sukuna and is able to affect Todo's arm with his soul transfiguration. Todo immediately cuts off his hand that was being manipulated and Mahito jumps forward to continue his attack.

As his soul transfiguration was recharging because of his domain expansion, Mahito hits Todo with a black flash. Todo centered his curse energy to his core and was able to tank Mahito's hit but still took great damage. Todo's necklace broke off and it was revealed that it was a locket with both Yuji's and Takada-san's picture in it. The show shifts to a montage of Todo's imagination which ends with Todo slapping Mahito's hand which activates his technique and allows Todo to switch with Yuji and Mahito is hit with a black Flash by Yuji. Todo is lying on the ground with his only hand destroyed by touching Mahito and Yuji moves forward to finish off Mahito.

Yuji continues his attack as Todo is left incapacitated. Mahito reveals he has discovered the true essence of his soul and is able to transform into his final form known as the instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing. The forms changes Mahito's appearance and allows him to gain great power and armor against Yuji.

Yuji decides the only way to defeat Mahito is by using Black Flash and he seeks to become the sorcerer to release a Black Flash at will. As Mahito and Yuji clash, Yuji discovers that Mahito's armor is harder than Choso's but he is able to land his time lag curse attack and is able to surprise Mahito. Todo then stands up and reveals to Mahito that the act of a clap is a gesture as he smashes his burned hand and his other severed arm together.

Mahito expects a switch but is tricked by Todo as his Boogie Woogie technique is gone and Yuji is able to charge his strongest Black Flash and knock Mahito away. Mahito loses his form and tries to spit up more transfigured human and realizes there is no more in stock. Mahito is frightened as Yuji declares that he will kill Mahito with no remorse. Mahito attempts to crawl away in desperation but he is struck with complete fear when he is confronted by Yuji. In the last moment of the episode, Geto appears and offers to help Mahito.
