One Piece  episode 1097 recap

In the previous episode, Vegapunk reclassifies his visit to Ohara after the Buster Call. He saw that the scholars had made sure the books were recoverable and he stumbled upon giants collecting the items. He initially thought they were bandits before Monkey D. Dragon recognized him. Dragon also knew Clover and he went to Ohara to pay his respects.

Dragon informed Vegpaunk that the giants had come from Elbaf to recover the books and were motivated to save the information. The giant captain is alluded to be Saul, the giant who helped Robin escape the island as a child. Dragon was furious about the world government and was harsh on Vegapunk for working with them.

Vegapunk had rejected the freedom fighters for the government. Vegapunk confessed that he wouldn't have been able to research as much with the revolutionary army. Dragon was motivated to change the world and he would later team up with Kuma and Ivankov. Vegapunk revealed that he later went to Elbaf and entered the library to see the books from Ohara. The giant in the library pointed him to the secrets of the Ohara scholars. He lets Robin know that Saul is currently in hiding.

Shaka, then, opens the door and heads in with the straw hat crew to show them something. The episode then cuts to the scrapyard where Luffy and the crew meet Vegapunk.

Vegapunk reveals that he ate the Brain-Brain fruit and has limitless ability to take in knowledge His head gets bigger as he takes in information, so he opted to split himself into six counterparts. His head has an antenna that allows him to connect to his information database known as the punk records. Everything the Vegapunks learn are sent to the database and his clones are experts in their respective fields. They sync their data to the Punk Records, and he plans to expand it as much as he can.

Bonney still has resentment toward Vegapunk and attacks him with a beam sword which results in Vegapunk warning her about the weapon. The weapon is revealed to attract insects and a horde of bugs head towards the crew.

Vegapunk reveals that he created the smile fruit that Momonosuke ate to gain the qualities of Kaido. The other Strawhats learn from Shaka that Luffy's group has encountered Vegapunk.

Vegapunk informs Luffy that the giant robot corpse in the scrapyard is a legendary figure that attacked Marijoa two hundred years ago. At the end of the episode, CP-0 are heading to Egghead Island in order to stop Vegapunk.
