Solo Leveling episode 8 recap

In the previous episode, Sung visits his mother after his time at the demon castle to find ingredients for the Elixir of life. He reflects on his near death experience and decides he needs to get stronger before returning to the castle. Sung meets up with Yoo to take him up on his offer of completing nineteen C-Rank raids. Sung requests that only Yoo accompany him on the mission. Yoo hesitates because these missions usually require eight team members but accepts as they can hire the other team members as they accept missions.

The show then cuts to Hae-in, a strong hunter, as she is approached by a recruiter during her training session. The show then returns to Yoo as he interacts with his father in a car. His father reflects on life before dungeons appeared and how the world has changed since then. The father is adamant about creating a guild in order to gather resources. There are five major hunter guilds and they hold a monopoly over the profits from dungeon expeditions. The show then transitions to Sung as he discovers that his player log is not counting his extra daily exercises and he looks towards his loot boxes. He realizes that he has to find another way to level up as he strives to become stronger.

Sung is then notified that a D-rank mission is looking for hunters and he accepts the task. The audience is then reintroduced to Song, the leader of the double dungeon mission, as he trains in martial arts. he is adjusting to life with one arm and is determined to continue to contribute to society. The episode then cuts to Hae-in visiting the head of her guild and she informs him that she was approached by a scout from Yoojin Construction. She refused the opportunity and wished to know about Choi and Baek's conversation.

Choi is determined to finish the mission he had at Jeju Island that had failed before. Towards the end of the episode, Song and Sung cross paths and they realize they have been summoned for the same mission. The two then head towards the meeting spot where they discover the other members of the mission are the survivors from the double dungeon. The other members of the mission are revealed to be prisoners who work on the mission in order to reduce their sentence. The prisoners are escorted by an inspector named Kang. Kang promises to keep the criminals in line as the group heads into the dungeon.
