Crunchyroll confirms that a fourth season of psychological high school drama anime Classroom of the Elite is in production. The announcement was accompanied by a post on X (formerly Twitter) from the official Classroom of the Elite profile, which can be seen below:
The announcement comes from the Summer School 2024 event hosted by MF Bunko J, the publisher of the original Classroom of the Elite light novels. MF Bunko J is an imprint of the larger light publishing and anime production company Media Factory, itself a subsidiary of the Kadokawa conglomerate. As announced at the event, season 4 of Classroom of the Elite will adapt the Classroom of the Elite: Year 2 light novels, the ongoing sequels to the original Classroom of the Elite novel series.
The original Classroom of the Elite light novel series are written by Shōgo Kinugasa, with illustrations by Shunsaku Tomose. The first series of novels ran from 2015-2019, with the Year 2 sequel series beginning in 2020. There is also a manga adaptation which began in 2021, also written by Kinugasa and illustrated by Shia Sasane Both the original Classroom of the Elite novel series and the Year 2 sequel series, as well as the manga adaptation, are currently available in English via Seven Seas Entertainment.
The three seasons of the Classroom of the Elite anime adaptation so far are available to stream on Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll provides the following summary of the Classroom of the Elite anime series:
"Kiyotaka Ayanokoji has just enrolled at Tokyo Koudo Ikusei Senior High School, where it's said that 100% of students go on to college or find employment. But he ends up in Class 1-D, which is full of all the school's problem children.Crunchyroll
What's more, every month, the school awards students points with a cash value of 100,000 yen, and the classes employ a laissez-faire policy in which talking, sleeping, and even sabotage are permitted during class.
One month later, Ayanokoji, Horikita, and the students of Class D learn the truth of the system in place within their school..."
Although the production of a new season of the anime is now confirmed, additional details are still unknown as of this writing. Neither a release date for Japan nor international streaming have currently been confirmed and the initial announcement provides no information about the new season's cast or crew.

The announcement of the production of a new season of Classroom of the Elite is giving the anime calendar for fall 2024 and beyond clearer shape. Other noteworthy recent announcements include the confirmation that Dragon Ball DAIMA will debut on October 11, a new Attack on Titan project to be announced on September 9 and a compilation movie coming November 8, the confirmation of a Mononoke film trilogy and several acquisitions by Crunchyroll for 2024 and 2025.
