Dragon Ball DAIMA lands a streaming home
With Dragon Ball DAIMA scheduled to debut on October 11, 2024, Crunchyroll has now announced that it will be the streaming home of the latest entry in the iconic Dragon Ball franchise for international audiences. Following a special premiere featuring an extended 40-minute episode shown at the Daimatsuri fan event on October 6, Dragon Ball DAIMA will air in Japan on Fuji TV starting October 11. Crunchyroll's streaming schedule will make the premiere episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA available the same day as its debut on Japanese TV.
Crunchyroll has not yet announced plans for an English dub as of this writing. Initially, Dragon Ball DAIMA will be available with the original Japanese voice cast with English, Spanish and Portuguese subtitles. Via Crunchyroll, new anime series will be available for audiences in the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, the India subcontinent and Southeast Asia.
A milestone moment for Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball DAIMA marks a major milestone in the history of the Dragon Ball franchise. The debut of DAIMA corresponds to the 40th anniversary of the franchise, with the release of the first of the first chapter of the original Dragon Ball manga back in 1984. Notably, Masako Nozawa returns as the Japanese voice of Goku, a role she has played since the anime adaptation of the original Dragon Ball.
Although series creator Akira Toriyama passed away in March 2024, Toriyama was involved in the production and development of Dragon Ball DAIMA, contributing the original story and character designs, with writer Yuko Kakihara creating the scenario and screenplay based on Toriyama's original story. Yoshitaka Yashima will direct, while Aya Komaki serves as the series director. Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru serves as animation character designer.
Dragon Ball DAIMA joins the rest of the franchise on Crunchyroll
As fans wait for the debut of Dragon Ball DAIMA on October 11, there's still time to rediscover the 40 years of the Dragon Ball franchise' history. Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Super and mostthe franchise's standalone movies up to 2022's Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero are available to fans around the world to stream on Crunchyroll. This means that nearly the entire Dragon Ball franchise is available on Crunchyroll. As of October 11, Dragon Ball DAIMA will be no exception and will join the rest of the franchise streaming on Crunchyroll.
The fall 2024 anime season is shaping up to be a memorable one.
