Following up on Anime Away's previous story about the announcement of the relaunch of the Pokémon TV service, we can now confirm that Pokémon TV has returned as an official YouTube channel and is actively uploading episodes of the Pokémon anime series from the beginning. As of this writing, about 50 episodes of the Indigo League story arc have been uploaded to Pokémon TV.
The original Pokémon TV service operated as a standalone app and website that The Pokémon Company International announced would be sunset in early 2024. By the end of 2024, news was originally broken by Pokémon fansite Serebii that Pokémon TV would be revived as a YouTube channel:
The Pokémon TV YouTube channel began uploading episodes of the Pokémon anime on December 6, 2024. Pokémon fans can check out the new Pokémon YouTube channel and relive classic moments of the anime series here. The official description of Pokémon TV can be read below:
"Welcome to the official Pokémon TV YouTube channel, where you can explore the world of Pokémon with Ash & Pikachu! Experience some of the most iconic moments from their adventure with our full episodes, live streams, compilations, and so much more! "Pokémon TV YouTube channel
A Golden age for Pokémon streaming
The return of Pokémon TV comes a few months after the launch of the free Pokémon streaming channel on Pluto TV, launched as a collaboration between The Pokémon Company international and Canadian media company Wildbrain in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. The key difference between the two services is that the Pokémon Pluto channel offers a curated stream that plays episodes of the Pokémon anime sequentially, while Pokémon TV allows episodes to be streamed on-demand.
In these early days of the service's revival, it's still unclear how many seasons will ultimately be streaming on Pokémon TV. On the other hand, The Pokémon Company and Wildbrain announced that the Pokémon Pluto TV channel streams every season of the Pokémon anime from the very first episode, up to Sun & Moon – Ultra Legends. This means that 22 seasons of the Pokémon anime are available on Pluto TV.
Additionally, Netflix was announced as the streaming home of the latest Pokémon anime series, Pokémon Horizons throughout most of the world — though there are international regions that are exceptions. Netflix has also acquired the streaming rights to the seasons of the Pokémon anime beyond Sun & Moon – Ultra Legends. Netflix also distributes the standalone stop-motion anime series Pokémon Concierge, which debuted in December 2023 and has since been confirmed to be producing new episodes.
